Two Club América players are covid-19 positive ahead of playoffs

Club América has a ‘bye week’ in the playoffs for landing the No. 3 seed of the 2020 Guardianes tournament, so they have time for their players to recover.

Two Club América players are covid-19 positive ahead of playoffs

Club América will make their debut in the playoffs next week and on Wednesday the club announced that Roger Martínez and Leonardo Suárez tested positive for coronavirus. Both players also confirmed the news on social media and they will remain quarantined until they recover.

Fortunately of the 50 tests Club América carried out among players and coaching staff only two results came out positive. “The Liga MX and Club América are confirming that out of the 50 tests done in the club, only two results came out positive. People who work for the club also were tested and they all came back negative for Covid-19,” read the statement.

“Martínez and Suárez are asymptomatic and they will follow the health protocols until they recover from the coronavirus. Also Club América will be monitoring each player.”

In the recent past the striker Federico Viñas got the coronavirus and missed the last two games of the regular season. Fortunately, this week he was tested again and his results came back negative so he will be ready for the beginning of the playoffs on 25 November.
