Danny Jordaan: Qatar will organise an exceptional World Cup in 2022
The President of the South African Football Association said his country was ready to share their experiences of hosting the tournament in 2010.
Danny Jordaan, president of the South African Football Federation, showed his complete support for Qatar as hosts of the first World Cup in the Middle East, to be held in 2022.
Jordaan, whose country held the World Cup in 2010 for the first time in the history of Africa confirmed that his country was ready and willing to offer their complete support to help Qatar make the very most of organising the World Cup 2022, using their experience acquired at the World Cup 2010.
Jordaan said: “We’re sure Qatar will organise an exceptional version of the this global event in two years time, at which the fans and footballers will enjoy a unique and exceptional experience, and of course we’re honoured to be involved with the South African supporters' club in Qatar, which is a positive step in supporting the South African team, so we’ll do everything possible to ensure we qualify for Qatar 2022.”
The statement from the Jordaan came after the announcement of a collaboration between the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, responsible for managing the projects related to Qatar 2022, with the Qatar Football Federation, to set up the first South African supporters' club in the region.
The announcement came after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the South African Football Federation and the South African supporters' club in Qatar, which is the first South African football fan group in the Middle East, and which will help in the continuous efforts of the Supreme Committee’s community communication department, which aims to involve all the different communities during the organisation of the world’s most important sporting tournament.
The initiative therefore embodies the vision of the Supreme Committee’s community communication department, which seeks to reinforce football culture among different communities during the organisation of Qatar 2022, as well as involving each and every fan as their teams take part in Qatar 2022.
Al Nuaimi: an opportunity to communicate with the fans in Qatar
Fatma Al Nuaimi, executive director of the communication department of the Supreme Committee, confirmed that setting up the South African supporters' club marks an opportunity for football fans around the world to communicate with fans in Qatar, as well offering the possibility of seeing up close how Qatar is preparing for the World Cup 2022.
“It’s vital to mobilise individuals in the communities in Qatar, and help them express their passion for football, to enrich the spirit of celebration across the whole country during the tournament in 2022,” said Al Nuaimi.
Meanwhile, Mansour Al-Ansari, general secretary of the Qatar Football Federation, said: “The official registration of the South African supporters' club in Qatar by the South African football federation will contribute to enriching the cultural experience of the guests at Qatar 2022.”
