CF Monterrey-Club León match postponed due to coronavirus

After AS Mexico revealed that Rogelio Funes Mori was separated from the team on Sunday after presenting symptoms related to coronavirus, on top of losing their best striker, Monterrey has three other players recovering from coronavirus, Vincent Janssen, Stefan Medina and Avilés Hurtado, as well as staff members and five players from the U-20s.

Matchday 3 has been postponed

The Liga MX bosses confirmed this Wednesday that for health reasons the game between CF Monterrey and Club León on matchday 3 of the 2021 Guardianes tournament has been postponed. Originally the game was scheduled for Saturday 23 January at the BBVA stadium, but now it has been moved to Wednesday 10 March.

At the same time, the league announced that Monterrey’s game against Puebla for matchday 4 has been moved to 2 February. Currently Monterrey has a total of 19 positive cases of coronavirus, so the league decided to give them some time to isolate and recover their players to continue the tournament.

At the same time, Monterrey announced that training sessions scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have been cancelled and a crew will arrive at the complex to sanitize the facilities in order for them to return safely to practice. Once everything is sanitized, players and staff members will be tested again.
