Zidane calls up Hugo Duro and five more from Castilla
Real Madrid have just 13 senior players for Valladolid, leading Zinedine Zidane to dip into the reserves for Altube, Chust, Gutiérrez, Blanco and Arribas.
Real Madrid remain depleted for the trip to play Real Valladolid on Saturday evening, leading Zinedine Zidane to call on Castilla to beef up his squad one again. Among the players for Madrid fans to keep an eye on in the José Zorrilla is promising striker Hugo Duro, who has been drafted in to give Zidane another attacking option in the absence of Karim Benzema, who was forced to withdraw from consideration for the squad after feeling some discomfort during training. In theory, Duro will be on the bench in Valladolid as a back-up for Mariano, the only recognized senior striker the Frenchman has available.
Also making the trip are Diego Altube, who often travels as a third-choice keeper, central defender Víctor Chust, left back Miguel Gutiérrez, right winger Sergio Arribas and midfielder Antonio Blanco.
Despite training with the first team squad in the build-up to the Valladolid game, Zidane's third son, Theo, will have to wait for his chance to make a senior Real Madrid appearance.
The Real Madrid manager has nine players out with injury as it stands: Dani Carvajal, Álvaro Odriozola, Sergio Ramos, Éder Militão, Marcelo, Fede Valverde, Eden Hazard, Rodrygo and Benzema.
Duro, who is on loan from Getafe, has been called up to the squad for the first time for a LaLiga game after being included for the Champions League trip to Inter Milan and could make his senior debut in the José Zorrilla.
