"Soon": Marcelo fuels Ronaldo Real Madrid return speculation
Marcelo may have hinted about a possible reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo with an Instagram message. Although that reunion could just as well happen at Juventus as Real Madrid.
Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has fuelled further speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible return to the Spanish club with his latest Instagram message.
As revealed by AS last week, Ronaldo’s biggest wish is to return to the Bernabéu where he believes he has his best hope of winning another Champions League crown before his looming retirement.
Despite an incredible goalscoring record, things have not gone as well as planned for the Portuguese with Juventus, who were eliminated from the Champions League by Porto last week – consigning the former Madrid striker to a third consecutive year of heartache in Europe since he left the Spanish capital for Turin in the summer of 2018 for €100 million.
Speculation has been rife surrounding Ronaldo’s future, with reports emerging from Italy that Juventus are ready to sell this summer. However, the Serie A club has categorically denied they have any intention of letting their 36-year-old talisman go. Nevertheless, talk of Ronaldo’s summer exit has not subsided.

Has Marcelo hinted at a possible Ronaldo reunion?
Amid the ongoing speculation, Marcelo has left fans wondering if the Brazilian’s latest Instagram post was intended to be a subtle hint about a possible reunion with his former team mate and close friend Ronaldo.
In response to a video posted on Instagram of the pair sharing a moment at Madrid accompanied by the message “That Marcelo-Cristiano connection”, the Blancos left back wrote “Soon”. The Brazil international also posted two emojis that have also been left open for interpretation.
Of course, even if the message was intended to suggest the pair could be reunited, it does not necessarily mean it would happen at Madrid. Given that Marcelo is a prime target for Juventus and is out-of-favour at the Bernabéu, it can’t be ruled out that the pair’s possible reunion could happen in Turin.
Ronaldo and Marcelo shared a dressing room for nine years at Madrid before Ronaldo’s exit, striking up a close friendship that hey maintain to this day. During those glory years together, the pair won four Champions League titles, two LaLiga titles, two Copas del Rey and three FIFA Club World Cups.
