“When Canelo fights, everybody wins” - Oscar de la Hoya
Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez parted ways with Golden Boy Promotions and Dazn, but according to the former boxer the relationship will rekindle.
The CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar de la Hoya said that even though Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez decided to leave, he is hopeful that they will work again together in the near future. De la Hoya was a guest on the Ak and Barak Sirius XM radio show where he talked about his relationship with the Mexican boxer.
No burnt bridges
Currently Eddie Hearn is Canelo's promoter since the boxer from Guadalajara decided to end his relationship with Golden Boy Promotions. “Good for him, I’m glad that he appreciates Hearn, it makes me happy that they’re going to be working long term and I’m sure they have a deal together,” said Oscar.
“It’s good news for everybody, because as long as Canelo fights the whole boxing world wins. I think he’s doing a good job, I think that Canelo right now is on top of the world and good for him. I wish him all the best. Let’s move on because like I said, when Canelo fights, everybody wins.”
Golden Boy Promotions is one of the most successful companies in the world of boxing and they have been in the business for at least 20 years. So Oscar de la Hoya is confident that the relationship between his company and Canelo will rekindle in the near future.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll be working with him once again,” he said of Canelo. “I have no doubt whatsoever. People always think the grass is greener on the other side. We’ll see.”
