Inter Miami forced to cancel three preseason games due to covid-19

Inter Miami CF are entering their sophomore year in Major League Soccer and they have made a lot of changes in their roster and coaching staff for the 2021 season. The co-owner of the team has taken a more active role this year, because he was disappointed with the results in their debut season.

The sophomore MLS franchise underwent their preseason camp earlier this month and they had three exhibition matches scheduled against Charleston, New York Red Bulls and Nashville SC this week. Unfortunately the three preseason games have been canceled due to a covid-19 outbreak.

This is their second coronavirus outbreak

The club announced on Tuesday that the three scheduled games at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida had been canceled “out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of players and staff”. This has been a problem for Inter Miami because earlier this month several team members tested positive for covid-19.

Inter Miami also canceled today’s (Wednesday) media availability and they hope they can get the situation under control before the start of the 2021 MLS regular season. The team owned by David Beckham are scheduled to play their season home opener against the LA Galaxy on 18 April.
