Hansi Flick turns down Barcelona job offer
The Bayern Munich coach made his intentions quite clear when he spoke on the eve of his final game with the club, against Augsburg.
It seems that Hansi Flick's future won't be on the bench at Camp Nou. The German coach made that quite clear when he spoke ahead of his final game in charge at Bayern Munich as his team see out the season against Augsburg tomorrow. In his pre-match press conference at the Allianz Arena, where his team will be presented with the Salad Bowl after clinching their ninth straigh Bundesliga crown, Flick explained that he is practically all set to take over the Germany national team post from Joachim Löw after this summer's Euros.
"It's clear that I have spoke to the DFB (German Football Federation)," the coach announced. "Everyone knows my thoughts about the national team. But it's also true that things always need to be resolved and cleared up. By that I mean small details. When it is all in place, I will be able to make an announcement. But right now, my focus is on tomorrow's game against Augsburg and after that, my holidays".
Flick is excited by the prospect of entering a new stage in his coaching career. He took the reins at Bayern, where he started out as Niko Kovac's assistant, after the Croatian coach was dismissed and ended up guiding the team to their first sextuple in club history. Noe, the 56-year-old is hoping for similar successes with the Mannschaft who begin their Euro 2020 campaign against France on 15 June. Flick can't wait: "I'm really looking forward to taking on the challenges to come".
