New Real Madrid shirt leaked: Benzema, Marcelo, Asensio seen in Cibeles-inspired kit

Inspired by Madrid's iconic Plaza Cibeles, the new Real Madrid jersey contains a grey imprint on the traditional white, with blue-and-orange trimming on the sleeves and collar.

Ahead of the official unveiling of the new Real Madrid shirt for next season, several first-look images of the players’ photoshoot in the new kit have been leaked online.

Footy Headlines, the site notorious for leaking such photos ahead of official jersey release dates, was the first to publish the images, in which Karim Benzema, Marcelo and Marco Asensio appear in the stands of Alfredo Di Stéfano wearing the new shirt.

There is also another photograph of Ferland Mendy from behind which reveals the new eye-catching typeface for the player’s names and squad numbers that will appear on the jerseys used for Champions League, Copa del Rey and Super Cup matches (for league games, Madrid must use the standard typeface used by all the clubs as stipulated by LaLiga).

New Real jersey inspired by Madrid’s Plaza Cibeles

Aside from the grey imprint on the traditional white, the standout detail of next season’s home shirt is the blue-and-orange trimmings used for the sleeves and collar. The new shirt, which also sees the return of the iconic Adidas stripes along the shoulders, appears to have been on sale for a few days in Australian stores, according to an Instagram post by The Football House.

The final design, which is inspired by Madrid’s iconic Plaza Cibeles (the fountain where Blanco fans traditionally gather when the team wins a trophy), has undergone some variations when compared to the kit originally leaked by esvaphane.com back in November, which also published images of the supposed new dark blue away jersey and teal-colored third jersey.
