Sergio Ramos will undergo a medical in Paris on Tuesday following his departure from Real Madrid after 16 years. The Spaniard reached an agreement last week with PSG to sign a two-year contract, a demand that Madrid refused to meet.

The centre-back's last official game for Madrid was the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (2-0), which sealed Madrid's elimination at the hands of the eventual European champions. He is expected to pass the medical without any problems after overcoming a knee issue which kept him out for large chunks of the 2020/21 campaign.

Ramos' presentation

If everything goes as expected, the idea is that the official announcement of his arrival will follow the medical and that his presentation as PSG's new player will be this Wednesday. PSG returned to training on Monday and their new defender could train under boss Mauricio Pochettino on Wednesday, once he has been presented by the club.

After Madrid and Ramos failed to reach an agreement, it is PSG who have finally landed the player, an experienced player at the highest level, who will help the Ligue 1 club in their pursuit of Champions League glory. It remains to be seen who will be Ramos' teammates at PSG. Neymar will be at the club, as his latest renewal with the French team was very recent. It is not so clear about Kylian Mbappé, who has already informed PSG that he will not renew his contract and that he will serve out the final year of his contract. The French forward is hoping that PSG can arrange a move for him this summer rather than lose him for free in a year's time.
