The USWNT are the favorites to win the gold medal at the Games, as they have already won the competition four times. Sweden's best performance at the Olympics took place five years ago when they won the silver medal in Brazil. The European side have qualified for every Olympics tournament since women's football was introduced in 1996.
A tough opener for the favorites
It won’t be an easy opening match for the Americans, as Peter Gerhardsson’s squad didn’t concede in two friendly fixtures last month in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics.

However, USA, the current world champions, are willing to get revenge after losing to Sweden at the quarter-final stage of Rio de Janeiro 2016 in what was USA's earliest ever exit at the Olympics.
