2021 Olympic Tennis schedule: men and women dates, times, events, matches, brackets

Tennis competition kicks off on July 23 and runs through August 1, with finals being held over the last three days. Djokovic and Osaka favorites to win the gold.

Favorites to win gold

Tennis best-known players have often had prominence at the Olympics- prominence been reflected in past gold medallists such as Rafa Nadal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Serena and Venus Williams. As none of them will be taking part this year, focus is set on Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka to win the gold at Tokyo’s Olympics.

188 players will be participating across five events this summer in Tokyo: Men’s singles, Women’s singles, Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles and Mixed doubles.

Olympic Tennis: Structure of events

The awarded medallists for Men’s and Women’s singles will be decided by a 64-player draw and elimination tournament. On the other hand, Doubles’ medals will include 32 teams for each Men’’s and Women’s tournament, whereas mixed doubles will only feature 16.

All players to reach semifinals in any of the events will battle for a spot on the Olympics’ history, having the two semifinal losers competing for bronze while the winners will play for gold and silver.
