How many titles and Grand Slams has Naomi Osaka won?

Osaka is just 23 years old and currently representing her country at the Tokyo Olympics, but how many Grand Slam titles has she won in her short career?

Naomi Osaka said she was feeling refreshed and ready to play, following a dominant 6-1 6-4 win over China's Zheng Saisai in the opening round of the Tokyo Games.

The victory was the 23-year-old's first since taking a mental health break just two months ago.

Four-time Grand Slam champion

The Japanese four-time Grand Slam champion had not played a competitive match since the French Open in May, when she withdrew after being fined for skipping the mandatory post-match press conferences for mental health reasons. She then also pulled out of Wimbledon.

Osaka powered through her opening match at the Tokyo Games on Sunday as world number one Ash Barty stumbled out of the tournament after a lacklustre performance.

Osaka, playing on home soil, admitted to having the jitters but showed no signs of pressure against China's Zheng Saisai, winning 6-1 6-4 on Centre Court.

"I felt really nervous being in Japan and playing here for the first time in maybe two years, and for it to be my first Olympics," Osaka said.

"It was definitely really nerve-wracking. But I am glad I was able to win. She is a very tough opponent."

Osaka, who lit the Olympic cauldron on Friday, is widely seen as one of Japan's biggest medal contenders with all four of her major titles coming on hard courts - the same surface used at the Ariake Tennis Park.

She continued her gold-medal bid with a 6-3 6-2 second-round win over Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic on Monday.

Osaka refreshed

The world number two said she was feeling refreshed having been on an extended break since May to focus on her mental health. Osaka was also unbothered by the sweltering heat that has troubled other players in Japan's capital city.

"It feels fine for me... I love being here, and I actually really like the weather," Osaka said.

Osaka said she appreciated taking time away from the game ahead of the Olympics in Tokyo, where she was chosen to light the Olympic cauldron at the opening ceremony on Friday.

"More than anything, I'm just focused on playing tennis.

"Playing the Olympics has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, so I feel like the break I took was very needed. But I feel definitely a little bit refreshed and happy again," she added.

Tennis titles

As well as being is a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, Osaka is also the reigning champion at the US Open and the Australian Open. Her seven titles on the WTA Tour also include two at the Premier Mandatory level.
