Mexico vs Canada, Gold Cup semi-final: how to watch - times, TV, online
All the information you need on how and where to watch Mexico take on Canada in the Gold Cup semi-final at the NRG Stadium on Thursday, July 29.
With Mexico one of the superpowers in Concacaf and a perennial contender for the Gold Cup, Canada are underdogs going into the clash in Houston.
El Tri are favourites, however Canada player Kamal Miller says his team have a game plan.
"It says underdog on paper, but we are going into that game with full confidence that we are going to get the job done,” said CF Montréal defender Miller. “We are going to make a game plan and stick to it and go out and give our all. It doesn't matter who we're playing: Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, doesn't matter. We are going to go out and obviously have respect for our opponent, do our homework and give it our best shot."
Mexico will aim to win the midfield contest on the night. Their midfield trio of Edson Alvarez, Hector Herrera and Jonathan dos Santos (LA Galaxy) were instrumental in their 3-0 quarter-final win over Honduras. Head coach Tata Martino is also blessed with forward options, including the LA Galaxy’s Efrain Alvarez and Inter Miami’s Rodolfo Pizarro.
Canada beat Costa Rica 2-0 in the quarter-final to book their place in the semis. The winner of this clash will play the winner of Qatar-USA in the final.
