AS.com beats its audience record, sits No. 1 in global Spanish

The online portal for the daily Spanish sports newspaper, part of Grupo PRISA, reached 133 million unique users across the month of July 2021.

Update:
AS.com beats its audience record, sits No. 1 in global Spanish

AS.com has achieved a new audience record for the month of July: 133 million unique visitors, according to internal data of Adobe Analytics, which indicates an annual growth of 55%. It’s a new milestone that confirms the status of PRISA Media’s sports newspaper as a benchmark and global leader in Spanish sports information. AS.com reached more than 100 million unique visitors for the first time in April 2020 and has surpassed this mark twelve months since, nine of them consecutively, from November last year.

Audience growth in July could be credited to the return of major sport competitions: Italy dominating the Euros, the vindication of Messi’s Argentina in the Copa América, the Tokyo Olympic Games, Pogacar’s second Tour de France, Djokovic’s feat in Wimbledon as he matched Nadal and Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slams, and the NBA ring of Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, among other sporting events that readers all over the world chose to follow on AS.

The ten international digital AS editions- in Spanish, English, and Arabic- provided sports fans with a detailed coverage of all the competitions, with laser focus on live information and innovative narrative formats.

Undisputed leader in the US and Latin America

In Spain, PRISA’s sports platform maintains a notable audience growth. In July it also achieved its best numbers in history, with a 39% year-on-year growth in unique visitors. This confirms a recent ranking by Comscore, in which AS.com is number two on the list of websites with the highest average daily number of visits on smartphones, second only to Google.

All these round up the excellent performance of its American editions among its audience. In the US, a market for both English and Spanish editions, AS.com ended June with 14 million unique users, in 10th position in the global ranking of sports by Comscore (domains only). According to this report, AS is the first Spanish-speaking media company in its category, with a differential of 8.3 million users in relation to Marca

Diario AS is also the regional leader in Latin America (not including Brazil), Colombia (6.14 million unique users), Chile (6.35), and Peru (1.62- PC-only data). It ranks second in Argentina (8.29) and third in Mexico (9.14), where the edition also garnered historic records according to the June data of Comscore.
