Galatasaray's Marcao red carded for swinging punches at team-mate
The Brazilian defender Marcao was sent for an early bath during the Girensunspor-Galatasaray match after throwing two punches at team-mate Kerem Aktürkoğlu.
Istanbul giants Galatasaray got their 2021-22 Turkish SuperLig campaign off to winning ways with a 0-2 victory away to Giresusnpor.
The game however was tainted in controversy when in the 63rd minute, Marcao, the Cim Bom defender attacked team mate Akturkoglu.
As the match was held up, the Brazilian ran to his fellow player and made a 'silence' gesture before swinging two punches at Akturkoglu who was substituted following the incident with the Brazilian red carded for the offense. Marcao will now face a lengthy sanction from the Turkish Federation and will also be disciplined internally.
