iPhone 13 rumours: release date, price, colours

Apple is set to announce details of a range of new products at its September event later this month, with an updated iPhone and Apple Watch 7 hotly anticipated.

Update:
Apple is set to announce details of a range of new products at its September event later this month, with an updated iPhone and Apple Watch 7 hotly anticipated.

Apple is preparing to unveil full details of its next mobile phone, the iPhone 13, at an event taking place on Tuesday, 14 September. The company has confirmed that the event will start at 10am PT (1pm ET, 6pm BST) and it seems likely to unveil the next slate of devices.

Apple’s September events are usually the most hotly-anticipated of the year and are often used to release a new product line up ahead of Christmas shopping season. In addition to the iPhone 13, many are expecting the rumoured Apple Watch 7 to make an appearance in Tuesday’s show.

A report from Front Page Tech claims that the new iPhone will be released on 24 September with pre-ordering going live from 17 September, just days after the September event.

How much will the iPhone 13 cost?

It seems that Apple will be sticking to the same four-tiered product line that they offered for the iPhone 12. This means we can expect an iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 mini.

Likewise a number of leaks have suggested that the price range will remain the same, with the cheapest (iPhone mini) starting at $699 and the priciest (iPhone 13 Pro Max) starting at $1,099. However other reports suggest that the new models could be given a retail price that is slightly higher than recent offerings.

What sizes and colours will be available for the iPhone 13?

Along with the same four tiers of device, most reports agree that the dimensions of the iPhone 13 will remain almost identical. The screen sizes on offer will be the same as the various versions of the iPhone 12, although the body could be slightly larger. One report claims that the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro will be 7.57mm thick; 0.17mm thicker than the predecessors.

One area where Apple may look to branch out is in the range of colours on offer, something that they were historically reluctant to do. One leak suggests that two new options will be added to the iPhone 12’s graphite, silver, gold and pacific blue colourways.

The new shades have been described as bronze-coloured ‘sunset gold’ and a very pale ‘rose gold’. Other reports suggest that the two new colours are more of an orange and rose pink, but it does certainly seem like Apple is mixing up the colour options for the 2021 release.
