LAFC's Cristian Arango scores fastest goal in franchise history

Los Angeles FC obtained their second consecutive win after defeating Real Salt Lake 3-2 at Banc of California Stadium on Sunday night. Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango was the man of the match after scoring his first brace in Major League Soccer and the third in his career.

The Colombian striker scored the fastest goal in the history of the franchise after 20 seconds. This was also the second time that 'Chicho' Arango has scored in three consecutive games. His goal was the eighth fastest in the history of Major League Soccer.

LAFC pushing for playoffs

This was a crucial win for Los Angeles FC because they climbed to eighth place in the Western Conference with 30 points and a record of 8W-6D-9L. The ‘Black & Gold’ will go on the road to face Austin FC on 15 September and they need the points to keep fighting for a spot in the 2021 MLS playoffs.

“Every game is going to be six point games and we have to have a really strong mentality. Arango is very solid, he has a solid mentality, he plays for the team and he is a threat at all times,” said LAFC coach Bob Bradley after the 3-2 win against RSL.

Los Angeles FC will have a tough schedule because they have three back-to-back road games and they can’t lose points if they want to book their ticket to the playoffs. After the match against Austin on Wednesday LAFC will face Portland Timbers and then San Jose Earthquakes.
