LAFC beat Sporting KC in crucial Western Conference clash
Los Angeles FC ended their eight-game winless streak on Friday night by defeating Sporting Kansas City 4-0 at the Banc of California stadium.
Los Angeles FC are trying to bounce back from their bad start of the 2021 Major League Soccer season and they manage to get the win and the three points at home on Friday night. The ‘Black & Gold’ defeated Sporting Kansas City, who are in second place in the Western Conference, 4-0 at the Banc of California stadium.
The biggest win for LAFC in 2021
The team managed by Bob Bradley registered its biggest win of the season with a very convincing 4-0 win over Sporting Kansas City at home. The central defender for the ‘Black & Gold’ Mamadou Fall scored a brace, while the Colombian duo Cristian Arango and Eduard Atuesta increased the score in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Los Angeles FC ended their eight-game winless streak and this was their first clean sheet since 7 June. The ‘Black & Gold’ are in eighth place with a record of 7W-9D-6L and a total of 27 points, leaving it tied with Real Salt Lake for seventh place in the Western Conference.
LAFC managed to get the win without Carlos Vela, out due to an injury, Brian Rodríguez, who is playing the World Cup qualifiers with Uruguay, and Diego Rossi, who was transferred to Fenerbache. After the win against SPK, coach Bob Bradley seemed pleased with the effort from the team despite the absences.
“Very important result for us, a lot of good effort and we all knew before going into the game that we were short on numbers. So we needed a big effort from everyone and the players really responded. We took advantage of two good set pieces and Fall is a real threat in the box. But as you fight through a tough stretch and try to keep everyone going in every day, this was an important win,” said Bradley.
