Yunus Musah makes third La Liga appearance against Real Madrid
The 18-year-old United States international came on to replace the injured the Carlos Soler, who suffered a serious ankle sprain, in Valencia's game against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Yunus Musah made his third La Liga appearance in Valencia’s 2-1 loss against Real Madrid on matchday 5 of the 2021/22 campaign. The United States international made his way onto the field to replace the injured Carlos Soler, who suffered a serious ankle sprain, early in the first half. This is the most minutes (75) the 18-year-old has played this season.
Musah could join the USMNT roster next month
The 18-year-old missed the start of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers with the United States earlier this month due to the injury. Now that he has reached full-fitness it is expected that USMNT coach, Gregg Berhlater, will call him up for the international break in October.
Musah on playing with the United States
"I am proud to play with the United States team. It is a group that I love to be with. It is a team that wants to do many things and we are sure we can grow together," he told Valencia media. "There was '4' and '19' [available]. In England it is nornal to wear '4', '8' or '10' if you play in the middle and since I already had '4' in England once, I thought about choosing '4'," he explained on why he chose to wear the number '4'.
