Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk fight: odds and predictions

The British boxer is the favorite in his bout against Usyk, but according to some experts, the undefeated Ukrainian has a chance of upsetting Joshua.

Update:
The British boxer is the favorite in his bout against Usyk, but according to some experts, the undefeated Ukrainian has a chance of upsetting Joshua.

Anthony Joshua continues his quest to become the undisputed heavyweight king by facing off against the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk in a boxing match where the Brit’s belts will be on the line (WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO) and that will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on September 25.

Some months ago, the fight that most fans expected to happen was an all-British showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight crown, but an arbitrator ruled in favor of Deontay Wilder to get his third fight with ‘The Gipsy King’ before Joshua could.

After that happened, AJ preferred to stay active instead of waiting to see the outcome and decided to take a risk by agreeing to step into the ring with the former undisputed cruiserweight champion and WBO No. 1 contender Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs).

As Joshua did, the Ukrainian won Olympic gold in 2012. After that, he turned pro and started to impress boxing fans with his solid performances at cruiserweight before becoming the fourth male boxer in history to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles.

Joshua vs Usyk odds

Joshua is the favorite going into the fight after he outclassed Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev last December in his last bout and will now be looking to do the same against Usyk.

AJ, who has won 24 fights (22 by knockout) and lost one of his 25 bouts, proved he cannot only punch but also be smart in the ring by adapting his boxing abilities depending on his opponent’s weapons. Usyk hasn’t tasted defeat yet, but he has never faced a boxer as big and talented as Joshua before.

The champ, 31, is 14/1 to win against Usyk in the ninth round and is 10/11 to win by a KO, technical knock-out (TKO) or disqualification.

But this is considered to be one of the best and most intriguing fights of the year, as both fighters are very talented and go into a 'styles make fights' showdown. Usyk, who stopped Tony Bellew in spectacular fashion before stepping up to the highest weight class in boxing, is 12/5 to win the bout.

The odds on the judges scoring the contest a draw are a massive 20/1.
