eFootball 2022: file size and how to download for free on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox, iOS & Android

eFootball 2022 is out today. Konami have released their version of the 'FIFA killer' series, PES, but with a fresh face and new stars. The game is free at launch, but with the caveat of further paid downloadable content later in the year.

It was released on September 30 but has already garnered criticism to its apparent unfinished state, as well as lack of content at launch. At launch the only mode is 1v1 against the computer or a player online, with just nine teams to choose from.

How can eFootball 2022 be downloaded?

The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, iOS and Android devices. Simply go to the appropriate store where you would usually download games/apps on your device to download it. There is currently no release for Nintendo Switch.

The size of the initial download is 42Gb on the PS5, according to brgeeks. A large size and based upon initial reviews it may be worth holding off from the download. As more content is added, the size of the game will no doubt increase.

Does the game cost anything?

eFootball 2022 is a free-to-play game, but like all free-to-play games there is a catch. Some parts of the game will be paid for, as well as the games version of FIFA's ultimate team packs being available to purchase for real money.

What are the initial reviews like?

Initial reviews are very poor for the game. The game has a positive review rating on Steam of only 8%, making it the worst rated game in the history of the platform. All aspects of the game from graphics to gameplay have been picked apart.

Eurogamer described the game as "bizarre" and "looking poor".

One of the funniest glitches is the referee sliding around the pitch like a flatfish.

Another showed Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati running as if he was in the Naruto anime show.

It seems the game has a long way to go before it can challenge FIFA, which is released October 1.
