Bengals QB Joe Burrow hospitalized for throat injury
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was taken to a hospital after suffering a throat injury in their home game against the Green Bay Packers.
Quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals was brought to a local hospital on Sunday shortly after their 25-22 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers at Paul Brown Stadium. He is being evaluated for what is suspected to be a throat contusion.
Bengals rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase said Burrow could speak during and after the game. Chase said that in their post-match conversation, he and Burrow talked about how they played and how they could have improved. The 24-year-old quarterback however did not talk to the press.
Burrow takes multiple hits
The team believes Burrow may have been poked in the throat during the game, but it is not yet certain exactly when he sustained the injury. He was first hit by defensive back Darnell Savage, and took a hard hit from linebacker De‘Vondre Campbell. He was sent to the medical tent for evaluation but went back on field shortly thereafter.
Burrow was also knocked to the ground in the second quarter by defensive end Dean Lory. He stayed there for a few minutes before standing up and leaving the field. But he rejoined the game and even threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chase.
Burrow completes the game
Despite the injury, Burrow did not miss a play. He threw for 281 yards, completing 26 of 38 passes, with two touchdown passes and two interceptions.
