Ertz's impressive record
Ertz has played all his nine seasons in the NFL with the Eagles, garnering three Pro Bowl selections during his stint.
Drafted as a second-round pick in 2013, he caught 579 passes for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns for the team.
2018 was his best year, when he completed 116 catches for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns.
His last touchdown as an Eagle came from a five-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Ertz emotional after final Eagles game
The 30-year-old appeared emotional after his last game with the Eagles on Thursday night which they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-22. He had spoken feelingly about his love for Philadelphia in the past.
The Eagles thanked their long-time tight end for all he has done for the team.
“He will always be a member of the Eagles family, not only because of what he accomplished on the field, but also because of the wonderful person, dedicated leader, and exemplary role model that he was for nine seasons in Philadelphia,” said Eagles Chair and CEO Jeffrey Lurie.
Ertz now with the winningest team
Ertz moves from a team with a 2-4 card, to the only unbeaten team in the league at 5-0.
The Cardinals lost the services of their main tight end Maxx Williams for the rest of the 2021 season after he injured his knee. The acquisition of the three-time Pro Bowler shows they are serious in their quest for the Super Bowl.
Ertz won’t be able to play for the Cardinals against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, as players are only allowed to participate in one game a week.
The Eagles on the other hand will now rely on Dallas Goedert as their principal tight end.
