Which states do not have an NBA team?
Twenty nine out of fifty states in the U.S. do not have an NBA team. With 30 NBA teams in total, the remaining 21 states have at least one of those teams.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the biggest sports organizations in the world, with 30 teams all over the U.S. Each of the 30 teams play 82 games during a regular season, and the best 16 teams move on to the playoffs to compete for the NBA championship.
There are 50 states in the U.S. and 30 NBA teams overall. Some states have more than one team, while other states have none. Twenty one of the fifty states have at least one of those 30 NBA teams.
California is the number one state with the most NBA teams, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings. Following is the state of Texas, with three teams: the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs.
Then comes Florida and New York, each with two teams: Miami Heat and Orlando Magic for Florida, with the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets for New York.

It’s worthy to note an interesting fact about the The Toronto Raptors, since they are the only team in the NBA that does not reside within the United States. Nevertheless, the Raptors will be playing home games in Florida, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa during the 2020-21 season.
