76ers' Ben Simmons fails to train after complaining of a 'tight back'

The ongoing friction between the star point guard and his team continues.

Whether intentional or not, the want away point guard continues to create a headache for his team.

76ers' Ben Simmons did not train on Thursday.

The wait continues where Ben Simmons is concerned, as the star point guard was unable to attend a scheduled individual workout at the 76ers' facility on Thursday. Simmons who had to be treated for back tightness according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, now casts doubt on his availability for Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. Simmons, was suspended for Wednesday's opening game - a win over the the New Orleans Pelicans - after an on court dispute with coach Doc Rivers.

It is understood that Simmons did in fact turn up for the session of Thursday but left without participating. The player described his discomfort to Sixers staff members, however, was actually given the green light to participate by medical staff and then subsequently chose to not join the session.

The 76ers can only hope and wait on Simmons

The Sixers were hopeful that Simmons would attend the individual session on Thursday and then in turn be present for a shoot around on Friday, ahead of the date with Brooklyn, In the end that has not been the case. Adding further context is the fact that the 76ers did not train on Thursday, which means Simmons has now gone without participation in sessions with his team since last week. The Australian was of course expelled from training on Tuesday after he repeatedly refused to participate in a defensive drill.

The ongoing Saga between the 76ers and Simmons is one that has occupied the headlines for the last few weeks. Having missed the first 2 weeks of training the player has been subjected to multiple fines totaling more than $1.4 million. That amount begins with $360,000 for each of the four preseason games that he has missed as well as multiple practices, on-court workouts and meetings. With regards to his most recent suspension, it is understood that it will cost the Simmons $227,000.
