The New York Jets' quarter back was just starting to get going after a bumpy start to life in the NFL.

QB Zach Wilson set to miss 2-4 weeks with PCL spain

The New York Jets were dealt a blow on Monday morning, when it was confirmed that star quarterback Zach Wilson will miss two to four weeks with a sprained PCL in his right knee. According to ESPN, the news came after an MRI scan on Monday morning which did indeed confirm the Jets' suspicions, after their heavy 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Though the sprain has been described as mild, the Jets are now faced with the decision of whether or not to list Wilson on the injured reserve which would mean an absence of a minimum of three games..

Who could replace Wilson for the Jets?

For the moment the Jets will likely stick with Mike White, who made his NFL debut Sunday when he replaced the injured Wilson. As they approach their next game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, it is likely that Josh Johnson will also be promoted from the practice squad in order to serve as the primary backup. There is also the possibility that the Jets may seek to acquire an emergency quarterback for the practice squad. The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Jets who currently have a 1-5 record.

Wilson who was the No. 2 overall in the draft is the base around which the Jets have been trying to rebuild. Though he has not yet established himself in the league there have most definitely been flashes of brilliance as he continues to gain experience. The Jets can take comfort in the fact that should his recovery go well, Wilson will be back with them for the final seven or eight games of the season.

How did Zach Wilson get injured?

Speaking on the injury itself Wilson said his knee "twisted" and he "felt a pop." The moment occurred in the second quarter when he found himself on the receiving end of a heavy tackle by Patriots' linebacker Matt Judon. Wilson could be seen limping off the field as he made his way to the locker room where he remained for the rest of the game - watching the game from his cell phone.

The Jets now find themselves seriously exposed having chosen not to sign an experienced backup. They currently have no quarterback on the roster with NFL experience and are in fact only the fifth team in the last 10 seasons to enter a season with such a roster.

Jets' Mike White is ready to step in

Wilson's replacement on Sunday threw a 3-yard touchdown pass on his first throw. White, who was a former Dallas Cowboys draft pick, completed 20 of 32 passes for 202 yards though he will be concerned about his two interceptions. Speaking after the game he spoke of his confidence in the team, "...yeah, I'm confident in myself, I'm mostly confident in the guys we have in that locker room, the leaders we have. The coaching staff, too."

Wilson joins a growing Jets injury list

Rookie middle linebacker Jamien Sherwood tore his Achilles tendon and will be out of the rest of the season. Sherwood who was actually starting for the injured C.J. Mosley (hamstring), now leaves the Jets with a major headache as they virtually have no available linebackers. They will be sweating on Mosley's rehab along with Jarrad Davis who is apparently close to returning having not yet played this season after suffering a severe sprain during the preseason.
