Odell Beckham Jr. has officially been freed

After 31 games and what was about to be three seasons with the Browns, Beckham Jr. was released today and is officially a free agent. The 29-year-old has had his issues on and off the field with the Browns, with the latest one being nothing but controversial. 

Beckham Jr. is now available to take his five 1,000-yard seasons and sign with any team he desires.

Like the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks are another team rumored to be interested in Beckham.

The Seattle Seahawks are waiting 

The Seahawks, who might still consider signing Beckham in, did not put a waiver claim in by Tuesday’s 1 p.m. deadline, which means that they could still sign him in, only at their price.

Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Beckham Jr. “is a really good football player. He’s as talented as you can be, in years past, and so you’re always looking for guys that can do special stuff. I didn’t say yes or I didn’t say no. But that’s just because...you’ll see.”

The Seahawks have about $12 million of cap room, and according to coach Pete Carroll, there is mutual interest between the Seahawks and Beckham, NBC Sports said Sunday.

Now are the Seahawks Beckham’s first priority?

Beckham Jr. and the Green Bay Packers

We now know that Beckham Jr. is interested in the Seahawks, but it has also been made clear that he his eyeing the Green Bay Packers as his next preferred team.

The reason behind why the high-profile free agent is most interested in the Packers is not exactly clear, but whatever his reasons, it's not enough for the Packers to claim him.

Green Bay currently don’t have enough cap space for Odell to join the Packers. If they do, Green Bay could sign him to a minimum deal and bring in the former Pro Bowl receiver’s experience that is currently missing in the WR room.

On another note, the Saints and the Patriots are also making a hard push for Beckham. Do the Packers want Beckham?

It is possible that the Packers sign Beckham Jr., especially with the lack of support on offense that Aaron Rodgers has clearly complained about. However, they have not addressed whether or not they share the same interest in Beckham.

For the Packers, who currently sit at 7-2 with a strong Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams connection, they are still struggling to find a consistent WR2, and Beckham’s receiver skills can give them just that.

The Seahawks play the Packers in Green Bay on Sunday, and we might very well see Beckham Jr. on either side of the field.
