Gigio Donnarumma confirms his friendship with Keylor Navas
Since the Italian goalkeeper arrived at PSG this summer there has been an ongoing rumor about the tense relationship between him and Keylor Navas.
Keylor Navas and Gigio Donnarumma have been alternating the starting role in goal throughout the season with Paris Saint-Germain. So far the goalkeeper from Costa Rica has six more appearances than the Italian across all competitions and he has seen the majority of minutes under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Since Gigio arrived at PSG this summer, there has been talks about the tense relationship between both goalkeepers and last week former AC Milan teammate, Zlatan Ibahimovic, said that Donnarumma is ‘stronger’ than Keylor. The Swedish striker also hinted that Navas has played more because there is pressure from the South American players to keep him in goal.
Donnarumma clears the rumors
The Italian was voted the Best Player at the Euros and helped Italy win the title this summer. Last week he was awarded the goalkeeper’s Yashin trophy at the Ballon d’Or 2021 ceremony and he spoke about his situation at the Parc des Princes with all the ongoing rumors and his relationship with Keylor Navas.
“There is no conflict with Navas. We are both good friends and everything is good between us. Keylor and I are united, as all the players at PSG are. As you know we are both very calm and respectful with each other,” said Donnarumma during an interview with France Football. “People have been talking a lot this season and that is not the reality.”
