Ibrahimovic thinks Donnarumma should be PSG first choice
The AC Milan striker believes that Keylor Navas should be benched, but the pressure from the South American players influence the PSG head coach.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived at AC MIlan in January of 2020 and he played alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma for the remainder of that season. This summer the Italian goalkeeper decided to leave the Serie A side to join Paris Saint-Germain, but he has watched most of the matches from the bench.
Zlatan backs Donnarumma
During an interview with Corriere della Sera, Ibrahimovic said that Donnarumma would’ve stayed at Milan if the Rossoneri gave him what he was asking for. Now that he is playing in the Ligue 1, Zlatan believes that Gigio should be the starter, but ESPN shared information that there is pressure from the South American players to keep Navas on goal in most of the matches this season.
“Gigio is a great goalkeeper. Now he has to fight to be a starter, but Gigio is stronger [than Navas],” said Ibrahimovic. “If they [Milan] had given him what he asked for, he would have stayed at Milan.”
Ibrahimovic worried about his future at age 40
“The future worries me a bit,” he said. “At the age of 40 I got a bit anxious. If I will become a coach? I don’t know, it’s so stressful … I’’l do something that will give me adrenaline. But as long as I hold up, I’ll be a centre-forward. I want to play for the Scudetto until the last day and go to the World Cup in Qatar.”
