Christmas Day 2020 is finally upon us and Twitter has been celebrating the holiday season. After a year unlike any other people from all around the world are taking comfort in a time of traditions, treats and turkey.

Whatever your plans are for the festive period there is plenty to look forward to and Twitter users have been sharing their excitement with memes and pictures.

Here’s the best of Twitter from Christmas Day 2020.

White Christmas in store for some this year

Christmas cards, holiday movies and festive TV shows all love to show a snowy scene at this time of year and for millions of Americans it looks like they will receive the real thing this year. Twitter users have been sharing their views of a ‘White Christmas’ with snow-topped trees and wintery scenes.

One North Carolina resident is getting in the mood on Christmas Eve, showing Buddy the Elf levels of excitement for a White Christmas. Just don’t eat the free candy on the street.

Residents in Knoxville, Tennessee probably don’t get to experience a White Christmas too often so locals are making sure to take advantage of it this year. One Twitter user says it’s the first time in decades that she can remember having snowfall around Christmas Day.

Classic Christmas TV Shows and Films

One of the great joys of the holiday season is settling down in front of a roaring fire to watch some Christmas TV, and it has spawned some iconic Christmas moments. Form Miracle on 34th Street to The Grinch, there’s something for everyone and re-watching old favourites is a Christmas tradition in households across the country.

This year has been tough for millions all around the world, leaving some feeling like they had a spent a night at the McCallister’s. Lets just hope that there isn’t a sequel to 2020.

America’s favourite family are always getting into scrapes but the classic episode ‘Miracle on Evergreen Terrace’ presents a nightmare scenario. Christmas is ruined, the presents are gone, and Homer's hungry.

Buddy the Elf is known for many things: his love of sugary food, spreading Christmas cheer, and a staggering ability to decorate an entire Manhattan department store in a single night. But his skills as a snowball-thrower caught the eye of the New York Mets, comparing him to former third baseman David Wright.

Preparations underway for the biggest meal of the year

Christmas is always a time where overindulgence is particularly acceptable and after a tough year people are lining up their favourite foods for the big day. Turkey and all the trimmings will be well on the way in ovens across the country and Twitter users are taking a moment to appreciate their festive favourites.

Brussel sprouts can be a contentious subject but when they’re good, they’re really good. This selection of green and purple Brussel sprouts is particularly impressive, but that might be pushing it for one person.

But the holiday season should also be a time of rest and relaxation so if you don’t feel like spending a day in the kitchen, just get something delivered! It may not be traditional, but it’s what you deserve.
