The Mexican international is willing to leave Chivas and join Rayados for the Liga MX Clausura season because he wants to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Alexis Vega could join Liga MX side Monterrey

Monterrey defeated Club América in the final of the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League to win their fifth title in franchise history. ‘Rayados’ secured their ticket to the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, which is scheduled to start on 21 November, and they want to fight for a top-three finish.

Alexis Vega can make Rayados stronger

Monterrey will have a busy year because they will also participate in the Copa MX and the Clausura and Apertura tournaments, so they need to improve their roster. For that reason, the people in charge want to make a bid to Chivas to bring in Alexis Vega next month.

According to AS Mexico, Rayados started the negotiations with the Guadalajara-based team in early December and they will resume after the Christmas holidays to complete the move. The 24-year-old made eight appearances last campaign with Chivas and provided one assist.

Monterrey will have to pay close to $8 million to sign Vega, who is ready to leave Chivas after three years. He also aims to play in the next World Cup with the Mexico national team and believes Monterrey will give him a better opportunity to showcase his talent to the manager, Gerardo Martino.
