The much-anticipated clash between Nigeria and Egypt in Garoua headlines a trio of matches at the AFCON 2022 tournament while defending champions Algeria taking on Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau facing Sudan.

Nigeria vs Egypt: Salah makes his bow

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is arguably the highest profile star of the tournament and he will hoping to help the Pharaohs to their eighth African Cup of Nations title, extending their current record. Their opening day opponents, however, are looking to cut their own slice of history, as the Super Eagles chase a fourth.

Nigeria come into this after an unbeaten qualification record of four wins and two draws, while Egypt won three and drew three to top their own group. Much will be made of this encounter between the sides managed by Augustine Eguavoen and Carlos Queiroz respectively.

What time does Nigeria-Egypt kick off?

The AFCON Group D contest between Nigeria and Egypt will kick off at the Estadio Roumde Adjia, on Tuesday 11 January 2022 at 11 a.m. US (ET) and 8 a.m. US (PT). That’s 5 p.m. CET and 4 p.m. UK time.
