Gio Reyna misses Borussia Dortmund game due to an illness
The United States men’s international team midfielder suffered an illness and missed the Bundesliga match against Union Berlin on Sunday.
Borussia Dortmund defeated Union Berlin 3-0 on Sunday and now they sit in second place in the Bundesliga with 46 points. Captain Marco Reus scored a brace and Raphaël Guerreiro once to give Dortmund the three points at Alte Försterei stadium.
Gio Reyna left out of the squad
The United States international returned from an almost four month layoff last week coming in as a substitute in the second half replacing Thorgan Hazard. It looked like he was set for a place in the starting XI one week later, but he was left out of the squad for Sunday’s game.
Dortmund confirmed on their social media channels that Reyna was ill and was unable to play. It is not known what illness he suffers from and when he will be back. The Bundesliga side has a short week ahead, as they play Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.
Three days later they play at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. Reyna has only made six appearances this campaign and has scored two goals and provided one assist.
