Who could replace Santiago Solari at Club América?
The most successful team in Liga MX fired the Argentine coach because of poor results in the current tournament and several names are on the list to replace him.
Club América decided to fire Santiago Solari after the team conceded a late goal against Querétaro in the 1-1 draw on matchday 8 of the 2022 Clausura tournament. The ‘Eagles’ are having their worst start of a campaign in club history and the decision was made to part ways with the coach from Argentina.
América currently sits in 17th place in the Liga MX standings with a record of one win, three draws and four losses. With nine games left in the regular season, the ‘Eagles’ didn’t believe that Solari had what it takes to turn things around so they sacked him on Wednesday morning and are already working on finding a replacement.
Who could replace Solari?
The 45-year-old Argentine was appointed in December 2020 and in his first tournament finished in second place at the end of the regular season. The next campaign, Club América finished in first place, but once again failed to win the Liga MX title causing unrest among the owners and fans.
Solari started to feel the pressure when the ‘Eagles’ lost in the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League final against Monterrey and since then the team ha s endured a poor spell of bad results. Several names are being linked with the position including, Hernán Crespo and Mario Carrilo are two options being considered to take over for the remainder of the tournament.
