Bayern Munich vs RB Salzburg: times, TV and how to watch online
All the info you need to know on how and where to watch the Champions League round of 16 match between Bayern and Salzburg at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
Bayern Munich will be looking to secure their passage to the Champions League quarter-finals when they welcome Red Bull Salzburg to the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their last-16 clash on Tuesday.
Although many would have predicted a win for the Bavarians in the first game, the fixture is open following a 1-1 draw in Austria and the visitors have a golden chance to defeat the Bundesliga powerhouse in what would be considered a huge upset.
Kingsley Coman scored a late leveler for Bayern after Chukwubuike Adamu had sent the home side ahead in the 21st minute of the match.
The Bundesliga champions, who are on a run of 22 away games in the European competition without a defeat, will try to avoid surprises at home and advance to the next round.
Julian Nagelsmann's men are comfortably leading their league with 59 points, nine more than Borussia Dortmund, who are sitting second, and Leverkusen, in the third position.
Bayern will try to show their best version to leave no doubts on who's the clear favorite here and to do that they will probably need to get back to their previous performances during the group stage when they easily beat Barcelona twice.
Perfect record vs. Austrian teams at home
The hosts, who have reached the quarter-finals or better in nine of their last 10 campaigns, have won all five of their home games in the tournament against Austrian visitors, scoring 15 times in the process.
The last time both teams met was back in the group stage of the 2020-2021 Champions League edition, and Bayern scored nine goals against Salzburg in the two matches they played.
Meanwhile, Salzburg are untouchable in their domestic league, topping the standings with 55 points, 18 more than second-placed Sturm and Wolfsberg, sitting third.
Matthias Jaissle's squad, who advanced to the round of 16 for their first time after finishing second in Group G, picked up 10 points from their six matches against Lille, Sevilla, and Wolfsburg.
Salzburg, a vulnerable team in Germany
The Red Bulls go into the match in good shape, as they have won two of their three league games, including a 4-0 victory over Rheindorf Altach on Saturday.
The visitors, who lifted an eighth successive Bundesliga title last season, were excellent at home in the group stage, as they proved against Bayern three weeks ago, but they only grabbed one point away.
The stats on their travels are not considerably better over their last 15 European games: they have lost nine of those matches and have been defeated in six of their last nine games in Germany.
