What NBA games are on today, Wednesday 9 March?
12 games are scheduled for Wednesday night with the pick of the bunch being Phoenix Suns' trip to the FTX Arena in Miami as both Western and Eastern Conference leaders clash.
As we reach the final stretch of the 2021-22 NBA Regular Season, there are still plenty of matters at at stake ahead of the post-season start on 16 April.
Despite losing talisman Chris Paul (broken thumb) coupled with key player Devin Booker missing games after contracting covid-19, Monty Williams' Phoenix Suns still hold the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and the pick of tonight's games is undoubtedly their trip to Miami to face Eastern Conference top dogs.
Here's a look at tonight's NBA action:
Celtics @ Hornets (7:00 PM) ET
Currently fifth in the East, the Celtics (39-27) will be hoping that Jayson Tatum can maintain his momentum after posting 54 points in the recent win over Brooklyn as his fourth half-century plus tally saw him tie with legend Larry Bird for the most in Celtics history.
Charlotte are in 9th in the Eastern Conference and will still have an eye on a play-off place.
Bulls @ Pistons (7:00 PM) ET
Yet another disappointing season for Pistons fans as they will be hoping to gloss over their standing in the East with a win over old foes Chicago tonight. The Bulls, currently fourth in the East (39-26) are a solid bet for a play-off place and will look to DeMar DeRozan to cause problems for the Detroit defence.
Suns at Heat (7:30 PM) ET
The game of the night as both Conference leaders go head-to-head in Miami. The Suns bounced back from defeat in Milwaukee with a victory over Orlando last night and will still be without Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
Tyler Herro is Miami's danger-man with the 22-year-old hitting an overage of 20 points per game for the Heat. Could tonight's match-up be a potential prelude to the 2022 finals between two of the most in-form teams at present.
Lakers @ Rockets (8:00 PM) ET
A place in the play-in tournament is the reality for Lakers fans at present with time running out for side from LA. All is not well in the camp with fans jeering their players and Russel Westbrook complaining of death threats being issued against his family.
With a 16-49 season record, the end of the campaign can't come soon enough for the Texans who along with Orlando hold the poorest record in the league.
The rest of Wednesday night's games:
Hawks @ Bucks (8:00 PM) ET
Thunder @ Timberwolves (8:00 PM) ET
Magic @ Pelicans (8:00 PM) ET
Knicks @ Mavericks (8:30 PM) ET
Raptors @ Spurs (8:30 PM) ET
Trailblazers @ Jazz (10:00 PM) ET
Nuggets @ Kings (10:00 PM) ET
Wizards @ Clippers (10:30) ET
