Jets assistant coach John Benton was arrested and charged with 'driving under the influence' in New Jersey on Thursday night after being pulled over for a vehicle violation.

New Jersey State Police said that Benton was released pending a future court date.

"We are aware of the situation and have no further comment,”noted a NY Jets spokesperson.

The 58-year-old coach has been an assistant in the NFL since 2003, starting his pro career as the St. Louis Rams’ offensive line coach. Benton also worked with the Texans, Dolphins, Jaguars and 49ers before joining the Jets last season.
