Mbappé's departure this summer could affect Achraf's future at PSG

According to RMC Sport, Mbappé is the Moroccan defender's closest friend in a dressing room divided into two clans - the South Americans and the French players.

Mbappé's departure this summer could affect Achraf's future at PSG

Tensions at PSG have risen since the team's premature elimination from the Champions League at the Last 16 stage. According to RMC Sport, the dressing room is more divided than ever and without a natural leader to rally the troops during delicate moments like the current one the team is immersed in. And Kylian Mbappé's expected departure this summer could have implications for Achraf Hakimi who, out of everyone in the squad, has the closest relationship with the France international.

RMC Sport report that the former Real Madrid full-back's relationship with PSG's South American players is practically inexistent. They claim that the Moroccan defender is annoyed by how the Argentinean players are only concerned about themselves and that has caused a division between the South Americans and the French players, with tensions escalting between the two factions.

Mbappé looks set to move on this summer, probably to Real Madrid, and that would leave Achraf on his own. The two players enjoy a great relationship - to the extent that Achraf is worried about where Kylian's departure would leave him. Hakimi's situation is just the latest episode in a series of tense moments which have occurred during the past few weeks within a dressing room which has always been plagued with issues and personality clashes.

Difficult relationship with the South Americans

RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo explained how Achraf's relationship with one half of the squad has broken down. "Hakimi is going crazy. One of the reasons why he is going through a rough time is that the South American players are now not talking to him. It's got to the point where he wants to leave PSG..." The Moroccan only joined PSG last summer from Inter Milan on a 60 milon euro deal and is under contract until 2026. We will have to wait and see whether his situation changes between now and the summer...
