Weston McKennie expected to return before season end
The United States men’s international team ace is recovering from his foot injury quicker than expected and Juventus could see him return in April.
Life without Weston McKennie has not been easy for Juventus since the 23-year-old midfielder suffered an injury in the first leg of the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League against Villarreal in Spain. The United States international suffered a broken third metatarsal bone on his left foot and after medical examination it was confirmed that he would be out for the remainder of the season.
Injury update
A report from Il Bianconero has claimed that McKennie is recovering quicker than they had initially expected and the American could return at the end of April. The United State men’s national team player could be included in the roster that faces Venezia in Serie A on 1 May and play the final four games of the campaign.
Juventus has not missed Mckennie in the Serie A winning two consecutive games since suffering his injury, but the story was not the same in the Champions League. The Old Lady hosted Villarreal in the second leg with the series tied 1-1 and they couldn’t get the job done without the United States international.
Juventus suffered a 3-1 defeat against the LaLiga side and were eliminated from the competition. The Turin giants are hoping for a top four finish in Serie A and also have sights set on the Coppa Italia as they are set to play Fiorentina on 20 April in the second leg of the semi-final.
