With some suspect decisions during the off-season the Cowboys definitely have a lot riding on this year's NFL Draft.

Cowboys' Owner, Jerry Jones reveals draft targets

This off-season has without doubt been one of the most turbulent in Dallas Cowboys history. As they enter the 2022 NFL Draft, they will be hoping for a decisive showing as they try to get back on track. There are of course positions that need addressing such as, wide receiver and defensive end, but there have also been rumblings about protection for the QB. What does that mean? The Cowboys will have to not just be creative with their nine draft picks; but innovative with their moves as well, if they hope to trade for freed up talent.

Speaking at the NFL's 2022 annual meetings in Florida, owner Jerry Jones revealed the team's intentions for the upcoming draft. "I think that I wouldn't dismiss a great opportunity with a pass rusher," he said. "Obviously, I'd like to have a young offensive lineman at the positions that you could immediately come in and play." With Jones' admission that the franchise's focus will be on an offensive lineman, he has made clear his intention to protect Dak Prescott, something the Cowboys failed to do consistently during the last season.

Can the Cowboys return to Offensive Line glory?

All-Pro guard Zack Martin (2014), former All-Pro center Travis Frederick (2013), and All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith (2011) were three players who became legends over almost a decade, while playing for the Cowboys. When compared to third and second round picks which have lined up for the Cowboys in recent seasons and with the results to boot, Jones' admission becomes even more understandable.

Indeed, if the franchise can get their man, it would go a long way towards returning the Cowboys to the good old days. To hear Jones tell it, it's almost certain. "Famous last words: We'll get [an offensive lineman] unless Lamb or Parsons is there."
