FC Barcelona could offer Sergiño Dest to sign Lewandowski
The United States men’s national team player is having a hard time to earn a starting role with the LaLiga giants and he could leave in the summer after just one season.
Sergiño Dest has been linked to AS Roma, Chelsea and FC Bayern Munich since the last transfer window. The United States international has struggled to earn a starting role at FC Barcelona since Xavi took over the managerial job late-last year.
Several teams keen on signing Dest
Due to the lack of minutes, Dest is analyzing the possibility of leaving Camp Nou in the summer and Barcelona could receive a good amount of money for transferring him to another club. Also, since reports from Daily Sport indicated that Robert Lewandowski, who will not renew his contract with Bayern that expires in 2023, is open to joining Barcelona this summer, Dest could be offered as part of a trade that would involve some cash as well.
The American has other offers on the table and he will have a busy summer ahead of him because in seven months the 2022 FIFA World Cup will start. So Dest wants to play as much as possible to be fit and help the USMNT advance to the knockout stages. Another team that is pushing to sign him is Leeds United, who is now managed by Jesse Marsch.
Sergiño Dest missed Barcelona’s 1-0 win against Sevilla on Sunday for matchday 30 because he is recovering from a biceps femoris muscle injury. So far this campaign, the United States international made 27 appearances across all competitions and provided three assists.
