Lists get compiled all the time, some of them getting more attention than others, but when it came to Apple Music’s Best Albums, there was plenty of interest. On Wednesday we had reached the top 10 in the countdown, and the final result saw ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ take the top spot, beating the likes of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Abbey Road by The Beatles, and Prince’s Purple Rain.

How did Apple Music decide its 100 Best Albums?
It was back on 13 May when we learned the first ten albums of the best 100 with anticipation growing as more and more were revealed until today’s conclusion. Clearly it’s a fabulous topic for debate, with it even making it onto TV and radio shows to generate friendly artistic disagreements.
The decision of the list wasn’t, as some had believed, anything to do with downloads or plays on Apple’s platform – although we often hear about these numbers too. Instead, the task of choosing the best came down to a team of ‘experts’ and more. Apple said in its press release that the list was “a celebratory list of the greatest records ever made, crafted by Apple Music’s team of experts alongside a select group of artists, including Maren Morris, Pharrell Williams, J Balvin, Charli XCX, Mark Hoppus, Honey Dijon, and Nia Archives, as well as songwriters, producers, and industry professionals.”
