Daniel Radcliffe and the ‘Harry Potter’ series
While Daniel Radcliffe does not expect to return to the ‘Harry Potter’ universe - even in the form of a cameo, he does have some advice for those who will be responsible for producing the new series. The British actor shared his thoughts in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, expressing his expectations hopes for how the younger members of the cast will be treated.
Children should not be plunged into social media maelstrom, says Harry Potter star
“I’ve got advice for everyone else - Just like, let them be kids still. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to do that in the age of social media. We were kind of a little bit before that. I don’t know. Hopefully, I will meet whoever that person is one day and I’ll be able to have that advice face to face, but probably not for everybody,” the 34-year-old actor said. His own professional career practically began with the first film of the magical saga directed by Chris Columbus in 2001, when he was just 12 years old.
The big difference with today is that social media exposure is widespread now due to the globalization of the media and networks such as Instagram, TikTok and X, where any information or detail that is posted online can escalate without control after it goes viral. And in most cases, young children are not prepared for it, even those who have been actors from a very young age or who are shielded from it.
The new ‘Harry Potter’ series does not yet have a premiere window on Max but CEO of HBO and Max content Casey Bloys gave an update this week, telling Variety “The Harry Potter series is further down the line. We’re still in the process of working with writers on their takes”. It is believed that the series will run for seven series - one for each book.
