Ex-child actress child actress Sophie Nyweide has died at the age of 24. Here’s what we know.

Former child actress Sophie Nyweide, known for her roles in “Mammoth” and “An Invisible Sign”, has passed away at the age of just 24-years-old.
According to an online obituary posted by the family, Nyweide died on April 14 in Bennington, Vermont. The cause of death, at the time of writing, is unclear.
‘There is an investigation ongoing’
Her mother Shelly spoke to news outlet TMZ once the news broke, saying: “We are very distraught and mourning. All I can say is her time acting was brief but very happy. She wasn’t a child star in the least and wasn’t subjected to anything hurtful on those films. She was always safe on those sets. Please let her rest in peace now.
“My knowledge is she was using drugs and was a tiny young woman. She was with other people when she died. I didn’t know them. There is an investigation ongoing. The autopsy results are not in. They said it would take 6-8 weeks. So I can’t say definitively.”
In her obituary, the family said that “Sophie was a kind and trusting girl. Often this left her open to being taken advantage of by others. She wrote and drew voraciously, and much of this art depicts the depth she had, and it also represents the pain she suffered. Many of her writings and artwork are roadmaps of her struggles and traumas.”
Nyweide appeared in 7 films before turning 11-years-old, most famously in Mammoth (2009), directed by Lukas Moodysson. She also featured in An Invisible Sign (2010), alongside Jessica Alba, and in Noah (2014), with Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly. Her last credited appearance was her 2015 role in the reality show What Would You Do?.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requested that any money be donated to RAINN, an anti-sexual violence organisation, in Sophie’s name.
