Update:

Not everyone may have noticed, but one actor has managed to carve out a unique place in the world of Westeros—appearing in both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. And in the latter, he doesn’t just play one role, but two. The actor is Jefferson Hale, and here are his three distinct characters.

Ser Gregor Clegane, “The Mountain”

In Game of Thrones, Hale embodied one of the most feared figures in the Seven Kingdoms: Ser Gregor Clegane, better known as The Mountain. Crossing paths with him was almost always a death sentence. Just ask Ser Hugh of the Vale, who faced him in a joust and ended up with his neck skewered by Gregor’s lance.

Ned Stark suspected the brutal knight had a hand in the conspiracy that led to Jon Arryn’s death. Still, Hugh’s appearance was brief—limited to episode four of the first season—but it underscored The Mountain’s terrifying reputation.

The Lannister twins in House of the Dragon

In HBO’s House of the Dragon, Hale takes on double duty as Jason and Tyland Lannister, identical twins with very different personalities.

Jason Lannister: Lord of Casterly Rock, sporting a beard and long hair. Arrogant and self-assured, he even tries to court Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Tyland Lannister: Clean-cut and politically savvy, he serves on King Viserys’ council. After Viserys’ death, Tyland continues his role under Aegon II Targaryen, navigating the dangerous waters of succession.
