However his moment of triumph was marred by an incident earlier in the evening when he reacted to a Chris Rock joke about his wife’s hair, walking onto the stage and striking the comedian before telling him to keep “my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

Aside from his 2022 capture, Smith has picked up two further nominations for Best Actor. These were for his performance as Muhammad Ali in the eponymous ‘Ali’ in 2002 as well as his role as homeless salesman Chris gardner in 2006’s ‘Pursuit of Happiness’.
