Madonna, the renowned singer, has been hospitalized due to a “serious bacterial infection,” according to her management. As of Thursday morning, it is unclear if the 64-year-old artist remains in the hospital.

Her 35-city “Celebration” tour, originally scheduled to begin in Vancouver on July 15th, is now postponed. It was intended to commemorate her 40th anniversary as a singer.

In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, stated, “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, but she is still receiving medical care. A full recovery is expected.”

The tour was set to be a major undertaking for the American star. It aimed to showcase Madonna’s unparalleled catalog of music from the past four decades and pay tribute to the city of New York, where her music career originated.

I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in the tour’s announcement video.

Produced by Live Nation, the tour included stops in prominent cities like Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. Following the North American leg, Madonna was set to venture to Europe, performing in 11 cities during the fall, including London, Barcelona, Paris, and Stockholm, among others. The European dates was meant to conclude in London on December 6, before returning to North America for another leg, scheduled to continue until January 20, 2024.

What if fans had tickets?

Ticketmaster has provided confirmation of its refund policy regarding Madonna’s Tour. Fans who have purchased tickets will have the option to request a refund once a rescheduled date is announced. In the event that no new date is announced within the next 60 days, customers will also have the opportunity to obtain a refund for their tickets.

For now, everything is on hold, as Oseary mentioned in his statement.
