New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ will be first Marvel film to include profanity

How have they kept it clean and PG-13 while still including the f-word?

Update:
How have they kept it clean and PG-13 while still including the f-word?

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3′ will be the first MCU movie to feature a character using profanity.

The corresponding fragment was shown in a short teaser: Star-Lord gets frustrated with Nebula, telling her to open the “f***ing door”.

“There’s a button under the handle. Press that in,” he instructs her. When Nebula does so and asks what’s next, Star-Lord yells, “Open the f*cking door.”

Did it slip by, or was it planned?

One would assume that the scene would not make it into the final cut of the film, but that is not the case. According to director James Gunn, the cursing Star-Lord will remain in the theatrical version of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3′.

At the same time, Gunn explained that films with a PG-13 rating have a restriction on swearing: only one obscene phrase is allowed to be inserted.

“You can only have one in a PG 13 movie. That said it wasn’t planned – I told Chris to add it on set and it just made the moment funnier so we kept,” he tweeted.

Early reviews of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3′

Many of the jokes in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ use crass language as a punchline. Name-calling and profanity proliferate in both movies. However, it’s the first time they’ve crossed the line into f-word territory.

Time will tell how the audience responds to Disney Studios given their audience is primarily children, and they target their movies to families.

The movie is set to premiere on May 5 officially, but there has been a lot of positive feedback from early viewers who claim it might even be the best Marvel movie since ‘Endgame’.

Critic Emil Franchi says that the newest entry completes the perfect trilogy for the MCU, writing: “After seeing it twice I can safely say #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 completes the perfect MCU trilogy. It’s heartbreaking and hilarious and I’ve loved this team from the first ooga shaka. A blast for 10 years.”
