Oscars 2026: what is the order of awards and how many categories are there in the Academy Awards?

The Academy Awards have finally arrived. The red carpet’s rolled out and the stars are dressed to the nines as they await to hear the winners of the 98th annual Oscars.
This year, the film ‘One Battle After Another’ is the favorite to win in the Best Film category, but the other categories are up for grabs, with the possible exception of Best Actress, which will almost for certain go to Jessie Buckley for her amazing performance in ‘Hamnet’.

This year’s event is hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien. It will be his second time hosting an Oscars.

There are 24 total categories that make up the awards gala, which begins at 7 p.m. ET at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Here is the list of awards and the order in which they will probably be presented. The official order has not been announced yet.

As is typical, the Academy Awards will save the most prestigious awards for last, with Best Actor, Director, and Actress in the final four, followed by the grand finale of Best Picture.
